Welcome to my little corner of the web! I’m so glad you’re here!
As a wife and mom, who works full-time out of the house and has been diagnosed with adult ADHD, I often find it very hard to stay focused on the creative ideas rattling around in my head. Because of that, I tend to make very little progress. This blog is my creative “brain dump”. A place where I can share my ideas, stay focused, hold myself accountable, and ultimately connect to and maybe even inspire others like me, who have hit a point in their life where they long for more and finding ways to achieve it – whatever “it” is.
But beyond that, it’s also a place for me to share what I love. My writing, my photography, my thoughts on everything from motherhood to music, to sports, to relationships, to dreams and goals, the struggles and joys of ADHD, morning routines, and everything in between.
So who am I? I’m a Lincoln, Nebraska native (Go Big Red!), but I have spent the last 20 years in Kansas City. It took me awhile, but I now proudly call KC home! My partners on this crazy journey are my husband of 19 years, Kevin, and the two loves of my life, “E” (10) and “B” (7).
I have spent the last 15-plus years working as a legal secretary, the last 15 at the same firm, but believe it or not, that wasn’t always the dream. I spent a huge chunk of my childhood (say about 15 years) believing I was going to be a big-time pop star. Needless to say, that didn’t pan out for me. However, after all these years, I think I finally found the lesson in all that day dreaming and “practicing” I did growing up, in preparation of the big star I was going to become – it takes a lot more than just THAT to make it!
It takes action. Rarely does one accomplish their dreams and goals by sitting around and just hoping they will be “discovered”. You have to put yourself out there, go after you what you want, work your butt off, introduce yourself to the people that can help you and push you, truly believe in yourself, and MAKE it happen! Of all the little dreams I’ve had so far (like cupcake shop owner, party planner, and pop star) the only one that I have had any success with was when I was writing about NASCAR. It was the only time that I really sought out opportunity, put myself out there, and did what was uncomfortable to me. While I was never able to make it a career, the opportunities I had and the people I met were amazing. And I was pretty darn good at it, if I do say so myself. It’s how I rediscovered my love of writing and it helped me build confidence.
So with this blog and website, my hope is to pull from those experiences and memories to really find my true mission in life. In turn I dream of building a community where we can encourage and inspire each other to dream, create, and achieve. When I think of all of the possibilities for future growth for the blog and the site, I’m very excited, but it’s also a little overwhelming. This is where I need to remind myself that’s it’s just one step at a time. Just wake up, create, repeat.
I hope you will visit often to learn even more about me, and I am so excited to take this journey with you!
